This is definitely not a Ferrari LMP car. It could be a GTE race car based on the LaFerrari, or maybe a follow up to the Maserati MC-12, but I doubt that as well. Others have speculated that it is a test bed for an LMP engine, but I'm not convinced. It's obviously more track focused than the regular LaFerrari; look at that front splitter, center-lock wheels, snorkel and rear spoiler. So then what is it?
I think it's the LaFerrariXX. You know, a customer track car that you have to be invited by Ferrari to buy at an extremely high price, that Ferrari will keep for you, and you can only drive on special track days put on by Ferrari. It's the follow up to the FXX and 599XX.
So there, I called it.

Makes sense.
Ferrari already competes in GTE with a 458, a LF in there makes no sense and wouldn't even be allowed in its current form.
They could come into LMP1 and that would be awesome, it would also be bitching expensive and I don't think Ferrari is compelled to field 2 F1 cars and then turn around and supply an entire WEC team

You know...I can't think of anything more ridiculous than that.

Actually, there's a spending cap that will be going into place for 2016 in F1, and Ferrari is apparently very interested in using those extra funds to compete in the top level of Sports Car racing. That and the new turbo V6 engines in F1 could theoretically be used in LMP1 with a little tuning, and we could definitely see Ferrari in that scene in the coming years. And that would be very exciting.

It's evidence that Ferrari has lost their way. Enzo was an asshole, but at least he was an asshole with a goal.

Well, its clearly not an LMP car. No fin or holes. Also, the aero is way the fuck off what an LMP would be going for.

Could you imagine?
I'm pretty sure the ghost of Enzo Ferrari would step in to prevent that from happening.

I can.
When they come out with upgrades for their testbed you have to pay for them.

Eh, not to sure of that. Ferrari has a long history of doing this sort of thing.

And their bogus reasoning that "Every customer is actually a Ferrari Test driver". I was at one of the FXX Track Days some years ago, and the guys weren't even that great at the wheel. But it was the real deal, mechanics speaking Italian and everything.

Yeah, it just seems like it makes even less sense now.
I don't know. My list of gripes with Ferrari are long, and really go back to when Ferrari was Alfa Romeo equipment. Most of my gripes come from recent, and really only because they seem to be getting more pompous through the years. Or I'm just getting more intolerant of pomposity.
Either way, my opinion makes no sense, but it's my opinion.

Not sure if I agree with you there either, Enzo was the king of being pompous. Look at the origin stories of Lamborghini, the Dino, and the GT40.

Oh, I know. I think he gets away with it in my mind because...hell, it was that era. Like I said, it's completely irrational, but at least his ego gave us those cars (and the Breadvan, the greatest middle finger ever).

I highly doubt this would be in GTE. GTE is usually heavily prepped production cars. 911s, Corvettes, 458s, etc.
The proportions of this thing definitely say prototype racer to me.

Well, its definitely not a prototype. The Aero is massively wrong.

There have been very similar-looking mules running the 2014 F1 engine. I just assumed it was that.
